Living Life Daily

It has been such a great week, and I am really looking forward to the next few days!

Being a parent is amazing and challenging. I love all the different phases/ages the kids are in. The youngest need guidance; the older ones look at me like I am looney, and they give me appropriate comments that ZING me.

For example, one of the older ones got a D on a test. Mama was not happy. I raised my voice. No, I yelled. I yelled because I was tired and angry and I KNEW he had not studied one bit. I felt like I had failed.

Solomon looked at me and said, "Mom, do you think screaming is going to motivate us to get straight A's. REALLY?? ". They are wise like that, giving respectful feedback that sadly, at times I need to hear.

Annabelle joined Girl Scouts yesterday. She is excited about that. She is leading her class in Book Points, which means she is reading constantly. I love that girl! She is LOVING second grade and has a very loving teacher. PRAISE GOD!! The teacher told me Annabelle is an angel. Awww.

Elliot's football team has struggled a bit and been down in the dumps. They won last night, a big win, and I say humbly that Elliot rocked the house. As middle linebacker, he got a lot of tackles. How nice it was to hear his name over and over on the PA system. I am most happy because football is a game of one choosing to make it happen. The runner doesn't come right to you, you must go find him. Elliot was on the prowl last night and did a great job. His success is all his choice. I like that, and praise God for all the drive Elliot has. :)

Solomon got his 7 stitches removed Friday (dirt bike accident), so he should be able to play Tuesday. He is very excited. His team has been outstanding without him, and he will be happy to join the fun.

Max is on his way to earning a spot on the freshman team. Not playing last year put him at a disadvantage, but he loves a challenge and is working very hard. He is an absolute joy. He would like to go back to Nicaragua at Christmas. I think summer will be soon enough for a return trip.

My job: perfect fit for me. The library is BOOMING with business. Kids are reading like crazy and I get to see their smiles every day. The quiet atmosphere allows me to have little conversations with them. I feel it is my time to fill them with encouragement and kindness. It is the least stressful job I have ever had, and comes at the perfect time in my life. Divine plan? I think so. Thank you, Lord.

Fall is a season of changes, and there will be some changes coming up for us soon. I hope to announce them this week. I love you all and hope you are staying healthy and happy! xoxoxoxo
