"Prosecuting Attorney, Timothy Bookwalter waited patiently through the entire auction following the awards presentation for the 2010 Bakers’ Best Contest to purchase the final two items auctioned off by Jeff Rich and team on Thursday evening, which were the first place Bread by Barbara Lawhorn and the first place pie by Bonnie Bryan. Lawhorn and Bryan both belong to the Better Homes Extension Homemakers Club. Lawhorn received ribbons, Kroger gift certificates and the coveted one of a kind Bakers’ Best Winner’s apron made by Maxine Neeley of Fillmore. Bryan received ribbons, Kroger Gift Certificates and the handmade rolling pin which was made and donated by Bill Perkins of Roachdale."

My mother, Grandma Bonnie, is a wonderful cook. My children enjoy peeking into her "furnace room" where she has all her ribbons and awards hanging. We are proud that she can add one more prize to her stash. Oh, and the handmade rolling pin, very nice. But she'll never use it. :) She has her favorite, VERY old rolling pin, which just might be her secret to success. Congratulations, Mom. We are proud of you!!
