AWKWARD!!

You know those awkward teen/tween moments when you feel like dying because your child is soooo embarrassed? Well, we had one of those yesterday.

We went to the middle school to see whom Solomon has for a teacher, and to see who was in his class, of course.

As we stood there reading, a mom, her daughter, and son came up to look at the same list. The daughter was Sol's age (12). The little brother was red-headed and freckled and probably about 8. You can envision him, right? Kind of spunky.

So the mom says, "I know you don't have any girlfriends in your class, but at least you got that Solomon kid. You REALLY like him!". The girl says, quietly, "No." The younger brother pipes in, loudly, "YES YOU DO LIKE SOLOMON!" The girl elbows her mom and says, "He's standing right beside you."

Then they disappeared at the speed of light.

Sol and I have been laughing about this ever since it happened. It is sooo embarrassing. That poor mother had no idea what she had just done. In hindsight, I should have turned to her and said, "Hi, I'm Solomon's mom".

Life is so great. Some moments are worth savoring for a while. Poor girl. May I never do that to my children. ;)

Poor Girl! Something MY mother would have done. Come to think of it - she did. Several times. That explains a lot....

This is hilarious as long as you are not that middle school girl! Bet mom will keep her lips sealed for awhile ;-)

Poor Girl! Too funny!!! We were dropping Andrew off at youth group a few weeks ago and Tom was with me (which he usually isn't). As Andrew was walking away, Tom called "Bye, Sweetie!" or something like that out the window, purposely joking with him. He told me later, "YOU have to drop me off from now on. Dad can't ever do it again!"

Oh Kate, that is too funny. That poor girl is probably still obsessing about this!! Ahh, those early teenage years of awkwardness. I hope that mom at least took her shopping for some clothes to make up for her faux pais!!
