That Cabinet

Wanted to tell you about that cabinet in my Office. It is from a small town in Indiana, which is my favorite antiquing place EVER. On the back of it was a little handwritten note that said, "Grandma chose this as her wedding gift". OH, how sweet is that? The inside has red beadboard on the back, which looks like old barn red paint to me. I fell in love with it. Also, nailed in it to hold plates was a yard stick from Russellville, IN, which is near my parents' home. It had an advertisement on it, "McGaughey's Furniture Store and Mortuary". We gave it to the granddaughter of that Mortician, who happened to be a friend of ours from Nucor Steel! She thinks it is from the 1920s. The cabinet barely fits because it is so tall. I love how it showcases my milk glass, and the little white bird ornament hanging in it. Grandma chose this. Love that sentiment!

-- I found some more milk glass in storage in the garage. Now my milk glass family is together, for the first time ever. Oh happy day!

Beautiful. I wish I would have known you love milk glass. We had a trailer full of it when we had my grandmother's auction. We had no idea she had that much of it. She had it stashed everywhere! Your office looks great.

LOVE that cupboard! I found a hoosier-style one that I bought a few years ago. It has cracked green paint and a metal surface on the "counter" part of it. The cool part is that inside the one door is a housewife's notes to herself. There are things written like "owe vivian 2 pint jars" and "karen won 1st prize at the Frederick fair" etc. Some of them are dated from the 50's. I love it!!!

Miss you friend! Have a blessed day!
Love,
Susan
