Another award for Maxwell.

brag- to boast; to praise oneself or one's belongings.

My blog is a diary of sorts, a way for me to record our lives, lest I forget details later. Yes, I do forget many details. It is also a way for me to convey the happenings in our lives that bring us joy.

I have another story to tell you, but I am not bragging. I am thrilled when my children achieve, but in no way am I praising myself. So, here goes...

Max jumped into the van after school, and said softly, "Mom, I got another award today." Statements like that make me have a gush of warmth in my heart/stomach. I wonder what that is? Adrenaline? I digress.

It seems that a few weeks ago, the faculty nominated finalists for the annual awards of "most likely to succeed", "best looking", "most athletic", etc.... and the big one, "best all around". The class then voted on the winners. There are approximately 300 people in Max's grade.

They voted him "Best All Around".

He and the female winner will get their picture taken for the yearbook. Max seemed surprised, humbled, and thankful, and I feel all those feelings, too.

He has suffered a great deal here. I have not blogged about them because I feel they are too personal, but all have to do with concussions and this sport-oriented environment. To see him stay focused and overcome such down times has been quite inspirational to me. How blessed am I that my children inspire me. I bet yours affect you the same way! Isn't that so cool?

I was looking through your blog and ran across this post. First of all - congrats Max! Continue on the path you are on and encourage others with your words and actions. Second - I can't believe how much he looks like Clay in this picture!

You've got a great family Kate <3
