Questions

Annabelle, my darling seven-year-old daughter, is a very bright young thing. However, she hasn't really started asking those tough adoption questions that we were warned about in our adoptive parent educational stuff.

She is, though, very observant of her surroundings.

I noticed a mom staring at her during a birthday party this afternoon.Staring and frowning. It was so odd. I don't know her, and she was right across the table from Annabelle. I couldn't help be puzzled and annoyed.

I wanted to bring it up to Annabelle,, but in a subtle way, in case she didn't notice.

I said, "Anna, who was the other mom there tonight?".

Anna: "Oh, that was Mary's mom. Did you NOTICE her STARING and FROWNING??? Geez, what is up with that?".

I laughed. She is so blunt and was over this woman.

I just really didn't have any answers, just that staring is rude and staring plus frowning is really rude, and perhaps that mom had not been taught good manners.

That seemed to satisfy her. She is a tough cookie and I hope she forgets about it. I would have been very hurt by this when I was 7.

Just wanted to share with my peeps.
