Elliot

Elliot: from the Hebrew, meaning gift from God, and that he is. Elliot has received a couple of big awards recently, and I wanted to share about those, all the while thanking God for giving me such a precious child!

A couple of weeks ago, Elliot received a Character award from his teacher, for always doing the right thing. Oh, it made my heart sing.

Then, on Tuesday, he received another big award.

There was a basketball tournament at school with about 20 teams in it. This was organized/hosted by the PE coach. She said she would pick one MVP from the girls' teams, and one from the boys', at the end of the tourney.

The tourney went on for months, with one or two games per week, slowly eliminating the teams.

The air was electric at school on game days. Kids made t-shirts and made up cheers to support their favorite teams. The school spirit was amazing!

Elliot's team made it to the finals. They played a much taller team. Elliot jumped like a gazelle over those tall boys, rebounding like he had two big brothers. He was quite impressive, but his team lost by one point.

I am told that usually, the MVP comes from the winning team. Much to Elliot's surprise, in front of hundreds of kids, his name was called. The crowd went wild.

The sweet boy was dumbfounded all the way home, saying he did not deserve it and had no idea why he was chosen. If there was an award for humility, he might have received that one!

Elliot has had a great May using his God-given talents, and I look forward to watching him grow and prosper. :) Congratulations, Elliot! Mom and Dad are so proud of you.

Awsome Elliot! As Grandma Bon-Bon would say "such a sweetie". I am sure he will never forget that moment they called his name.
