Posh Naomi

I am going to open a little booth in a cool antique mall, and it's gonna be called "Posh Naomi". My Grandmother Naomi was a woman of simple means, but in her later years, had such style. It may have not been noticed by anyone other than her admiring granddaughters. She wore furs, and brooches, and lots and lots of lavendar. She had a lavendar-colored set of Samsonite, which she let me borrow when I went on my first trip away...although I can not remember the destination. I like the European spelling "lavendar". But I digress.

So I went to the antique mall today to speak with the owner. Lo and behold, guess what was awaiting me? THAT'S RIGHT, another Ernie Pyle book. This one is not in great condition, but the pages are perfect. It is called BRAVE MEN. In the first few pages, I found quotes to share.

Let's start with the inked inscription on the inside front cover, in penmanship similar to my Grandma Lena's:

Best Wishes
your belated Birthday Gift

Hazel
Received 14 December 1944
Belgium

Mr. Pyle was a journalist chosen to imbed with soldiers and sailors on their way to Europe during 1943. D-Day is coming. I am enthralled and will be unavailable for a few days while I read this.

Just leave a text on my cell if you need me. ;) Modern technology is fabulous when I want to do something old-fashioned like reading a vintage book.

Love the booth idea and the name! Share some pics when you get it set up. Now you can shop for great finds for others, sounds like a dreamy way to spend a day to me :)
