Swirling Leaves

There is a charming thing that happens at my house in the fall. It is a sure sign that cooler weather is coming, that fall has arrived, and it is time to get out the heavier jackets.

--This is the the mountain as it goes up behind our house. It is quite steep, although the photo doesn't show that. And see all the trees? Those trees drop their leaves which come flying down the mountain, making a stop at our back door.

--See this pile of leaves? When we open the door, the wind gusts, and the oak leaves blow into our house. It is always OAK leaves, no other type. They swirl in, two or three at a time. It isn't a big mess, just a charming little bunch of leaves, reminding me....summer is over and the wonderful cool weather has arrived.

Here in my neck of the woods, cool weather is a huge blessing and more than welcome. The sun still shines as brightly, and we can enjoy the outdoors more than we could during summer time.

Welcome to my home, oak leaves. You have become a gentle little sign that life is rolling along as it should, month by month, season by season.

Love the little pile of oak leaves. I think of you whenever hte kids and I take a walk down our road and look at leaves on the ground and I see one that is espcially beatiful. Thank goodness the HOT HOT HOT summer is over - that was a LONG summer, wasn't it???

It was so long, Julie! AR has glory days, and they are NOT in the summer. I really dislike that summer is a time to hibernate. Thanks for thinking of me. I think of you, too, OFTEN!!
