Fourteen years ago tonight, I paced the floors, took a bath, took a shower, and paced some more. I could not get rid of those cramps, but still wasn't sure it was labor. By 8am, after speaking to the doc on the phone, we raced through rush hour traffic to make it to St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. I was relieved to find out that at arrival, I was dilated to an 8. (I did not know if this was good or bad, but my doc was happy about it.) The next few hours dragged on for what seemed like an eternity.
I wanted to meet this baby!
After he was cleaned and placed in the plastic tub/bed, he flipped himself over from his tummy to his back. This boy had the most muscular legs I had ever seen. He was also a pretty bronze color, and still tans better than the rest of this family.
How would I describe Max? He is a godly young man. He is diligent about attending church and youth group. He is positive and funny. He has a million friends. He is intelligent AND athletic.
I am so thankful to have the privilege of being his mama. That all-night labor was well worth it.
Happy birthday, son. Thanks for being you!

Happy Birthday, Max! One of the best things about motherhood is the stories about how our kids came into our lives. And how you can remind them about it every single year : )
Happy Birthday Max!!
