The Sitting Bull Stampede is a rodeo in Clay's hometown, held every 4th of July weekend. Clay's dad wanted to take the kids while we were at the class reunion.
We gave permission for him to sign her up for Mutton Busting, which is riding a sheep during the rodeo. The child had to be less than 50 lbs.. She was VERY excited.
When the children were called out to ride, apparently Annabelle was much smaller than the other riders. You can see in some of the photos...looks like the others were over 50 lbs.
Whomever rode the longest won a huge trophy!
The rodeo clown, or someone, was afraid Annabelle would get hurt, I think, so the rodeo clown ran around with her, holding her onto the sheep.
She was a bit perturbed about this. She knew she could do it, we knew she could do it, but oftentimes, her size makes people want to protect her.
I know that is a good thing, except in Mutton Busting! :)

OH MY GOSH I LOVE THOSE PICS!! The one of Annabelle on its back made me laugh out loud - can only imagine the rush of adreneline and independence she felt (and clearly this clown didn't know who he was messing with!!). Going back to look at them again!
I'm with you, Julie! They don't know who they were dealing with for sure. Annabelle is a force of nature! What a great experience to have and a story to share.
Oh. how I wish they would have let her go by herself. She would have given them all the shock of the night.....I would have paid to have seen that....you know she would have won the trophy too...
Apparently the announcer said, "OK, little girl. You are done. Let go now. Little girl, let go. LET GO!!". She was determined. She is still talking about being mad at that rodeo clown. She is a little obsessive like her mother. lol
I love that second picture! One tough little girl you have ;)
