When I drove up to pay for my family's Sonic drinks the other day, the cashier said, "You don't have to pay. The lady in front of you took care of it!". The cashier was happy, I was thrilled. It was such a sweet moment. The generous person was long gone.
I decided to try the same thing. I noticed an older lady behind us today. She was counting her change to pay for her drink. I felt it was safe (not too expensive) to offer to pay for her iced tea. Grand total: 99 cents.
What I did not take into account was all the after school traffic. I tried to get out of the parking lot, and there was no way. The happy lady behind me was laughing, smiling, honking. I could hear her. Annabelle said, "Mommy! She's waving to me, she's so happy."
Just being honest here: I was mortified. I enjoy doing things anonymously. I was totally embarrassed.
I finally got out on the highway, and as I was turning into the school, she drove by honking and honking.
It made me happy to see such a sweet reaction. But next time, I will do it when we can make a quick getaway!!

LOVE this story!!
Wow Kate what a nice AR moment and what a nice thing to do. Cracks me up to think of you trying to be all sneaky - I can already see you turning your head to try to avoid eye contact with this woman. Look how happy you made her over .99! I'm so going to do this soon!
