Kansas!

So my friend Danica and I decided to head to an Antique/Flea Market that was listed in the trusted Country Living magazine. This event was held in NE Kansas, about a 6.5hour drive for us. (Topeka is in close proximity.)

It was held in an abandoned town called Troy. There were several homes and a church there, maybe 15 homes. All seemed to have not been updated after 1970ish. It was a time warp stepping in to them: old carpet, vintage wallpaper, moldy walls, ceilings falling in.... VERY STRANGE. But all were filled with junk/antiques. They were surrounded by tents, booths, semi trailers, etc., all filled with more treasures.

This town was in the middle of the wheat belt, surrounded by acre after acre of fields. I LOVED IT!!

I will blog later about the simple, inexpensive treasure I brought home. I have to say Danica is easy to travel with, Kansas rocks, and I learned a lot. Eastern Kansas is wealthy in Victorian homes built in the 1880s as a result of wealth from the railroad. I will post photos of some of those gorgeous homes.

Clay is interested in seeing these homes, too, so it will be fun to research it together. Love you all!!

I saw all kinds of lovely treasures in the background of the photos. I guess I pictured some HUGE antique fair with miles and miles of displays. This looks like a great place to treasure hunt!!
