To thine own self be true.

Every morning that I sub, the secretary reads a variety of stuff over the PA system, one being the "Quote of the Day". This week's quote is, "To thine own self be true". I have wondered if even one child in grades K-2 thinks about the quote or GETS the quote. Maybe the quotes are for the staff?

To thine own self be true has haunted me, in a good way, this week. I have been thinking about all the ways I have not been true to myself since we have moved here. I have not had a garden...although I have tried. I have not nurtured my Annabelle hydrangea or roses. I haven't spent time in my yard as I used to. I have not kept myself as healthy as I could. I have not spent time on spiritual matters like I used to. I do read, but have not focused on finding fabulous quotes as I did before. Etc, etc. I a making a spring resolution to get back to the basics and enjoy the little things I love.

First step was purchasing a $5. bag of Sarah Bernhardt peony bulbs to plant. I had these in Indiana and they were a gorgeous deep shade of pink. Second step is asking my mom for a start of her peonies that grow along her rock wall in Indiana, which were there when we moved there 40 years ago. It's the little things that make my heart sing, and I need to be true to that part of my soul.

Think about the little things today, and make sure you are allowing yourself time for them. To thine own self be true!!

Kate - as we have discussed that can sometimes be so hard to do here where things are just SO DIFFERENT, but I am so happy that you are "rediscovering" yourself as I LOVE you and you are one of the reasons that I am so grateful that we moved here. My grandma and mom both have had peonies around them their whole life and I love them - I will have to sneak a sniff when they bloom. Can't imagine this adventure without my Kate!

Julie- your kind words are balm to my soul. I love you, kindred spirit!! What an adventure we have had together! Knowing we see eye-to-eye keeps me off the proverbial CLIFF (or bridge) !!! lol

I am in total agreement, hince my stopping at the coop and getting my herb garden FINALLY started (I have wanted one for yrs, just never took time for it).
Kate, I thought of you last night while I was at my grannys for dinner and took Owen outside for a walk around her garden....if her flowers could talk.
She is one lady who has ALWAYS been true to herself and I am striving to be more like her.

You are so right, Kate! It's especially important for Moms to be mindful of this, we are so focused on our families, it's easy to forget what we enjoy! :) xxo

I miss your hydrangeas and all of your flowers that you had in Indiana. Miss the swing on the porch and I miss you. You need to start doing this stuff again - it's who you are.
