It has been a very cold and snowy winter for most parts of the country, including Arkansas. The temps are now 20 below our average. I see very few rabbits or any other type of small animals.
Last night around 10pm, we heard all the cats (5) jump to safety onto our deck. The dogs were barking wildly. Max opened the back door and saw two coyotes chasing our big black dog. Our dog Charlie is about 75 pounds, a big mix of collie and labradoodle. Max said the coyotes were snarling their teeth!!!
At the same time, Clay looked out over our deck and saw them, and said they were dark and as large as german shepherds.
We had 8 cats at the start of winter, now down to 5. I hate that the coyotes come so close to the house, but not sure what to do about it. Now I understand why the dogs stand guard every night staring at the woods!!

Wow! That's an exciting story, it reminds me of the Little House books--which the girls and I love. Hope your dogs and cats stay safe.

Egads, Kate!! Get thee to a gunnery!! Ha ha! Couldn't resist that one - when am I ever going to get to say that statement again in my life?? Can't remember which Shaekspeare play I ripped and mutilated that from (as well as the spelling of his name), but cracking myself up here north of yee!
That is really scary though - I can't believe they chased Charlie! Will Clay shoot at them??

K, he might just pass on the coyote stew after my last attempt at stew....hilarious...I am no cook for sure....E for effort though.
