One Man's Junk...

This is an ink drawing I purchased at a rummage sale in Ohio. It was a rainy day, and the library was raising funds by selling donations. This piece was sitting in some mud. The frame was an ugly brown. The canvas was falling out of the frame. Others saw junk, I saw a treasure!

The lady graciously (haha) dropped the price to $3. I let it dry out, painted the frame black, then added some vintage-style mica to make the snow glitter.

The homestead is reminiscent of my parents' farm. It sits down a long driveway with the barn being the most prominent feature in the landscape. My dad would never have a less than perfect fence, but that is another post for another day.

I think this picture says "home" to me, and I just love displaying it during the winter months. Click on it for a better view. It is even signed by the artist, Michael Stwallings.

My hope for you today is that your home feels "homey" and warm and happy as the holidays approach. Things don't make a home, but they can help add the feeling of love that everyone enjoys.
