Sid's Veteran's Day Writing

My dad's younger brother wrote this about my dad and other men he admired. It brought tears to my eyes! Thank you, Uncle Sid!

A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. Author Unknown

I find myself needing to do something on this Veteran's Day, and part of that is to thank all vererans for their service, but more than that, to single out some men who I have admired and looked up to all my life. More specifically, to my brothers and brother in law who served in the military I want to say a special thanks. They probably dont know it, but I idolized them as a kid growing up, looking forward to any communication from them from the places so far away and unimagineable to a small boy.

I was unable to follow their example because of health issues and at the time I was thankful for that. But now I look back and rather wish I had had the opportunity to do my part. Several of their offspring did follow that path, and i say "Bless You". To those of my family who served or sre serving now, and to ALL who served, Thank You for your sacrifice. It is not now and never will be forgotten.

One thing a father can hope for is for someone to say to his children at some point, "Yes, I knew your Dad, he is a good man." For what it's worth, today I want to say that very thing to the children and grandchildren of these men. Yes...they are indeed good men.
