the BEST night!

Clay and I had the best night tonight! He was invited to speak to a gathering of steelmakers from around the US, Canada, and Great Britain.

Many were from our old stompin' grounds around Pittsburgh or Wheeling or Ohio. Some had ties to the Indiana company where Clay worked for twenty years.

After a few bawdy jokes by the host, Clay spoke about his company and did a great job. Then, we got to go to the hospitality room for a few drinks and conversation.

Steelmakers are typically down-to-earth, hardworking guys who really appreciate what they do. They are not afraid to get dirty, and boy are they fun.

It was great. It felt like the good ol' days with all of our steel-making friends in Indiana. We toasted the Queen of England and the President of the United States.

Haven't had a night like that in a few years. Tonight I am thankful for some much-needed conversation with people who are from my culture. Long live the Queen and the President!!
