Clay and I took the family to a Renaissance Festival yesterday! It was something we have never tried, and is similar to a game the kids love to play on the computer. There were hundreds of people in character, dressed up and speaking with funny accents. (Funny because some were good at it, some were really bad.) There were jousting knights, a king and queen, interesting weapons, magicians...etc. We had a great time. The picture is of some of the main characters who performed. We were definitely in the minority in how we were dressed. :)
The highlight for me was trying homemade root beer. The nice fellow told us the history of the recipe which has been in his family for 100 years. He traced his ancestors back to Bavaria. The root beer was originally used for medicinal purposes. It was delicious!
