Speechless

You know, I love people and thinking about what they think, what they say, how they got to that perspective, etc. Most of the time I can understand even the most radical views. Today I am speechless and lacking understanding after what my friend just called and told me.

She attends a prayer group once a week with a group of local ladies from her church, which happens to be the most powerful and well-attended church in town with the most lovely facilities.

During the prayer meeting, all five of them expressed the hope that our new president-elect would be assassinated. My friend was shaking when she called to tell me how she had stood up to them, saying that was the most AWFUL thing she had heard in her life.

These ladies are the PTO officers, the cafeteria worker, the everyday kind of woman in this town. I know they have passed this attitude on to their children because my kids have heard awful untruths about Obama.

My stomach is churning. I have to stop thinking about it. I am so disappointed.
