We spent the weekend at Mountain Harbor Resort, on beautiful Lake Ouachita. http://www.mountainharborresort.com/ It is a beautiful area of Arkansas near Hot Springs. While Clay participated in the company's 24th Annual Bass Tournament, the kids and I rode horses, played soccer and kickball, and just hung out. There was a big banquet on Saturday night for all the fishermen and any family members who attended. Many prizes were given away, and Annabelle won a lovely fishing pole with a little cooler full of tackle and snacks. When she went in front of all those steel makers to get her prize, I think a few of them melted.
It was a wonderful relaxing time for all. As you might expect, the boys are now begging for a horse. They remind us that while living in Ohio, the farmer (from whom we bought our property), offered to give us a horse for "free" and Daddy said no. It is hard to make them understand that horses are really not free. LOL.
On the drive home, we stopped so the kids could dig for crystals. There are three areas in the world where rock crystals can be found like these: Arkansas, Brazil, and Madagascar. The lady was really interesting and told us how she believes Madagascar broke off from Arkansas thousands of years ago, and they were part of the lost city of Atlantis....etc. etc. She talked about all the energy that comes from these crystals. Clay walked away and napped in the car while I listened to her for 1.5 hours. Everyone has a story, as Oprah says, and I know a lot of that lady's story. :) God bless her, she is passionate about rocks and the kids adored her. I wish I had a picture of her in her black velvet shirt and dangling turquoise earrings. You'll just have to imagine.
