Mystery Solved!

This is my absolute favorite Nativity painting! I have a sepia-toned version, about 2ft x 2ft, but it has always been a mystery to me. It was difficult to find any information on it because the artist's name is hidden by the old oak frame. I did not want to tear it apart. Perhaps the name would not be there, and I would have destroyed the secure backing ... so...then...

I saw this print on eBay. It had information on it, but it was impossible to read. I ordered the print for a small sum. It said DRESDEN on the bottom. A quick google search showed the color version in the Staetliche Kunstsammlunger (art museum). The artist is Antonio Correggio, "The Nativity", and the year it was painted? 1522!

Mystery solved, thanks to eBay and Google. Now, if I can just get to Dresden someday to visit all their art museums!!

Some day I'll tell you about my love of art museums. What I adore about this is the light illuminating from the Baby Jesus. Illuminate me too, I pray!
