Summer.
Summertime.
Summertime reading.
I have a stack of books to read this summer. Summer plus reading is one of my favorite combinations. Well, the kids wanted to go to Books-A-Million yesterday, and wouldn't you know, I found a MUST READ to add to my stack.
"On China" is out by Henry Kissinger. It is a thick book made with quality paper...so it felt good to the touch. As I thumbed through it, there seemed to be a lot about Chairman Mao.
Chairman Mao fascinates me. He and our daughter are from the same province. He seems to me to have been as evil as Hitler, and as self-assured. We were told in China that many still revere him. Some consider him to be a god.
(On a side note, one thing you may not know about me is my favorite souvenir from China is a Mao watch. His face is on the face of the watch, and his arms are the moving hands. The kids at school adore this watch, even though they have no clue who Mao is. Cracks me up! It cost about a dollar, and I wish I had purchased more.)
I am going looking forward to adding this book to my collection. What are you reading this summer? xoxox
