Glorious Spring and Teaching Moment

It is spring in Arkansas, which means, we are in the glory days!! Strong, bright sunshine, not much rain, and roses in bloom already! One downside, it is very dry, and we are on a burn ban. Not that I burn often, but sometimes we would like to have an evening bonfire, and we Northerners MUST remember to find out if we are on a ban or not. It is kind of hard to keep in mind. Despite this, the weather can't be BEAT!

Max has recovered fully from having a benign cyst removed from the bottom of his foot. He has been released to play soccer, and he couldn't be happier.

Funny story, as he got his stitches out Thursday, he fully expected to run at soccer practice that evening. I saw his countenance drop when the Doc said, "Let it get used to being in a normal shoe for the weekend, then you can run on Monday."

Max was NOT happy. He was grumpy for a while. Finally the next day, I said, "Max, you are just going to have to be patient."

To which he quipped, "MOM!! I HAVE BEEN PATIENT FOR THREE WEEKS!".

I laughed out loud. At first he didn't understand my laughter. But as I explained to him....he is right. He has been wonderfully patient and followed doctor's orders to a "T".

It was a parenting moment where HE taught me. It was fine for him to be impatient. I love it when I learn from my kids!

That is a long time for that athlete to be confined to moving slowly. GLAD HE IS DOING WELL though and will soon be able to run like a gazelle again!
