Spring is the most glorious season in Arkansas, in my opinion.
It is already humid, with cool breezes blowing. The plants are starting to bud out, coming out of hibernation like sleepy little bears. Mine have been buried snugly under inches and inches of oak leaves, which we are removing and burning today. It is truly incredible how many oak leaves are on this property!
The sun is bright but not yet scorching.
We saw a rare sighting: a mama deer and her babies. We were used to seeing deer every day in Ohio, and were disappointed with the lack of wildlife here. I hope she comes back again soon.
The woods smell damp and fresh. On my walk this morning, I enjoyed seeing the redbud and dogwood in bloom.
I am going to soak up this spring and not think about the impossibly hot summer ahead. Spring is a glorious time in Arkansas.

Kate, I agree that southern springs are fabulous and you learn to cherish every day of cooler spring weather. I can picture you walking in your woods and a smile coming onto your beautiful face when you see the little buds. I was digging through my leaves out front this weekend and found some little bulbs sending up some green tips - can't wait to find out what they are!
Spring in the south is wonderful! I am a little envious. But good news... I uncovered the early stage of daffodils around the gazebo in our backyard. And looks like I will have some tulips in the front yard. Gives me hope : )
Happy Spring!
The weather has been beautiful here too. The grass is getting so green now. It is supposed to get cold again tomorrow.. but for now I have the windows open. I cannot wait for tulips! Enjoy!
