As a new member of this community, and new to the PTO, I wanted to bring something to the table.
I wanted to start a significant fundraiser. For my own selfish reasons, I wanted a HOME TOUR, because I love them. Especially Holiday Home Tours. Seeing homes dressed in their holiday best makes me happy.
So two years ago, with the blessing of the PTO, we had a home tour. Seventy people came that first year, and 85 came this year. That is ok, but my vision is for it to be a two day event with 1000 people attending. One can dream, right? That would raise about $10,000. for the school. But for now, we will shoot for 100 people in 2011...lol.
There are plenty of fabulous homes here with generous owners who are willing to participate.
I was in one of those homes a few months ago, and the owner and I were visiting. Her home is European, old world inspired. It is GORGEOUS, but I would not want to live there. She said, "What is your favorite home decor style?". I chuckled, because I live in a 1970 Ranch...which is fine...but my favorite style?
Could I tell her farmhouse style? Is that even a STYLE? Then I came upon these pics from Sarah Richardson, a Canadian designer who has a show on HGTV, "Sarah's House".
This is my favorite. Farmhouse meets modern day sunshine and comfort. LOVE LOVE LOVE this style. What is your favorite? My wish today is that we all create the kinds of homes that make our heart sing. And really, it is about the heart, don't you think?

I love this house too~so fabulous! Did you know she kept it as her country house? Elly got me a subscription to Canadian House and Home because she knows I love Sarah so much :) My favorite style is still french country with a bit of a mix to keep it fresh. :)
Really pretty! I need to tune into Sarah! I think my style is Old World. Not sure. I love all the dark furniture usually and really fell in love with the Mexican tables, etc. in Santa Fe.
I love all of it......That would be the best job to go around and decorate houses, if I was only that creative.....seems like so much fun. Sarah has got IT!
