Joy for You!

I have been meaning to tell you this for some time.

I think it will make you happy. Perhaps you have not thought about your water meter in a while. Perhaps you take it for granted that it is not a pain in your side.

Here is how I have to read our water meter. Each month, a little post card comes in the mail. I take that card, drive about half a mile to the highway, turn right, go about a quarter of a mile, turn right again onto a little country road. I drive to a family's home and park in their driveway. I ignore their "Beware of Dog" sign, as I am terrified of mean dogs and have never seen a dog there.

I get out of the van and walk across the muddy driveway to the yard. I find the round lid that is in the ground and open it. (But last month I could not find it due to all the leaves. It was raining and cold and I looked for about ten minutes.) I open the lid, wipe the mud off the glass, and record the six digits onto my little card. Then I send the card in with my payment.

If I don't send the numbers in, they estimate our usage. If I don't send it in for three months in a row, they send out their meter-reader-man for an $8. fee.

I can have the meter moved to my road, not to my home, for $450.

Ok, that was supposed to make you feel happy that you don't have to do this. Did it work? :)

Wow, never heard of such a thing! Was part of the home tour before you decided to purchase? lol
I will think of this every time I simply read my water bill!

When we looked at the home, the lady said, "You know you have to drive a mile to read the water meter?". I didn't think a thing about it, just wanted out of our rental. ;) I think Clay showed me the first time....uggghhh...if you live in civilization, ENJOY IT!! LOL!!
