I must tell you that this was in 7 pieces. It is very heavy, and measures almost 6 feet across. Most of it is oak, and some of it is gorgeous tiger oak, you know, with the lovely stripes in the wood. All I had to do was glue it back together, wash it thoroughly, then restain. Could have taken a few days, actually took a few months. LOL. (I really am laughing out loud when I write lol, so hope you don't get tired of seeing lol in my posts!)
The seat boards are on hinges. I can lift them up and put a hymnal underneath, although my neighbor BJ says that is where the priest kept his list of girlfriends. You'd have to meet BJ to appreciate his humor. ;)
He won this at auction in a small town in AR, 25 years ago. The old Catholic church, circa 1880s, was being auctioned off.
It was hard to get a picture of the entire beauty, but I took some of the carving on it.
This is in my sunroom. The trees aren't decorated yet. Enjoy! What do you think?
