Gift from a Child

Children in your life will give you special gifts. Gifts that affect your perspective forever. Have you noticed?

When Clay and I were dating and first married, he had a pet bird named, aptly and creatively, "Birdo". Birdo was a lovely bird who hated me. Absolutely hated me, as in clawing my head, screeching loudly, trying to intimidate me with her wings. Her beak was large and she scared me. I had no experience with "tame" or "pet" birds like Birdo. Birdo was Clay's first mate, I guess. LOL

When I was very pregnant with Maxwell and was myself, nesting, I was tired of Birdo and her mess all over the house. I actually thought it would be unhealthy for a bird to be around my baby. So Clay found a new home for Birdo.

Since hearing this story, Max has been happily obsessed with birds. He has a whole library of bird books and wants to be an ornithologist. He thinks it is totally evil that Birdo had to leave our house.

This little silhouette makes me think of sweet Max and his love for birds. Now I love birds! I notice them daily and think what a special gift Max has given me. Birds are quite lovely, colorful, and fun to watch. I hope Birdo is happy, wherever she is.
