I kept the children home from school so they could watch the inauguration. It was wonderful. They seemed to enjoy it and soaked up lots of facts as they watched. I made them promise they would always remember this day and how important it is for Americans to treat ALL Americans equally.
When I was very young(4 to be exact), I watched TV with my Grandma Naomi as men walked on the moon. I don't remember the images of the astronauts at all, but I remember making that important promise to her that I would NEVER forget this day in history. I could tell by how she spoke it was a big deal.
Yesterday was a big deal to me. I hope my children will keep their promise to always remember, and I hope they see how special this country is. (The only negative comment from them was that Aretha Franklin can't sing....but they know not of which they speak. :))

Wasn't it great? We watched it as a family on CNN International in Rome, I laughed out loud because Halle's comment was "that lady's voice is terrible!" Too funny :)
Our children think alike!! How funny! (oh, to be in Rome for an inauguration, or for anything. can't wait to hear all about it)
what a glorious day it was!
were's the R-E-S-P-E-C-T for Aretha? ; ) I agree that it wasn't her best performance though.
