Some evenings are just perfect and I feel I am in the right place at the right time.
Solomon's All-Star baseball team played last night at "The Field of Dreams". It is really called that. As we sat behind home plate, we could see the Arkansas River running on the left. Mountains were on the right, with houses on top whose lights gradually came on as evening fell. It was a breezey night with big puffy clouds rolling in above the mountains. Cool night air replaced the sticky humidity.
All the children were playing in a large group. At one point Annabelle lost her flip flops and a teenaged boy was carrying her to find them. Max organized a game of keep away. Elliot played tag and was exhausted as we drove home at 10:30pm.
I may not want to know how many millions were spent on creating that facility, but our experience there was priceless. Our team did get stomped 11-0, but it really did not matter. We advance to the state tournament of the Fourth of July.
Life is good and we are in the right place at the right time. Some evenings are just perfect.
